Our baby is running free in heaven

Our beloved Skeeter ( our dog of 16 yrs and 3mo.) passed away sometime between 7:00pm Sat. night and 7:00am Sun. morning. We had taken him to the vet again Friday morning ( he had just been there last Fri and Fri. night the week before, on IV's) and he wanted to keep him to put him on IV's, yet again. He kept him thru Friday night. Sat morning, he was a little better, however he wanted to keep him a while longer and see how he was. He said he would be checking on him around 7:00pm that night. So my hubby and I were at the vet's office at 7:00pm hoping to take our baby home with us. Only to find out that Dr. Allen wanted to keep him longer. He ate for the first time since Thur. So we got to go in and see him just for a few minutes. It would be the last time we got to see our baby alive. Dr. Allen had said he would call before church around 7:00am to let us know how he was doing, and when we could pick him up. When he called around 7;15 it was to advise us he was gone. He had been bleeding in his intestines. We will miss him greatly!!!!!!!!! It's very lonely here without him, although he had been sick for some time. It's really hard right now, so if your reading this , please be praying for us. I know I will see him again when we meet in heaven one of these days. And he's no longer in any pain. Good bye our little buddy.
PS. Our daughter ( who loves animals as much as her mom) made our little buddy a headstone. We have a area that has different shrubs, etc and that's where we layed Skeeter to rest. Thought I would take a photo of it as well. It says "Skeeter AKA Buddy, 1990 to 2006. It's been rainy yesterday and today. And that's how I feel right now.

What a handsome boy Skeeter was. I'm very sorry for your loss. I know how heart-wrenching it can be to lose a beloved pet.

I'm so sorry for you, he looked like a very fine dog and friend. It's the hardest part of having pets, to loose them. A great hug from me.

I saw your note on the sock group and hoped you'd have a picture here. He was a beautiful guy and I know how hard this is for you. We lost our big lab 2 years ago just after his 14th birthday and I still tear up thinking about him. We do have another dog that we love dearly but Sarge will always hold a special place in my heart. Hug to you Mimi.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost Skeeter. I know exactly how you feel - I lost my little Peanut 3 weeks ago. They sneak themselves so deeply into our hearts. I still can't think of her without tears. Both Skeeter and Peanut are in a better place now.

I am sorry for your loss. Try to take solace in knowing that he is waiting for you all on the other side of "The Rainbow Bridge." I have included the poem here as well as a link to the site I found it on.

and here is a link to a site called "Chane's Spot". This is free site for resources for grieving pet parents.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

He was a beautiful Baby~~~we're canine American lovers and proud of it!! We had a little Peke for about 12 years~~our little girl. She died of cancer, and we know how you feel~
Seems to me that the more you treat them like a human baby, the more they ACT like one!!
They know how you feel and what you're thinking~~My prayers for you & yours. You'll see beautiful little Skeeter again in Heaven~~Hugs & prayers Jean in Midland Tx
